Despite the disastrous breach on the Llangollen Canal in Dec 2025 the Whitchurch Festival will still be going ahead in 2026, mainly to support the small group of floating traders marooned the wrong side of the breach

About the event
This is an important message to all those who attended the WWT Canal
Festival last year as traders, either with a Stall or a boat.
Following a meeting of the WWT Trustees earlier this month we have decided that despite the calamitous collapse of the canal embankment at the end of last year, we will be going ahead with the Canal Festival in 2026 and we've set the date for the weekend after the August Bank Holiday, so Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th September.
We recognise that almost certainly the canal will not be open again past the site of the breach, and as a result we will only be able to have boats attending that are already "upstream" on the canal - sadly, I know that this will mean many of our regular floating traders will not be able to be here.
